El Mercado Central acogerá una cata de vinos solidaria el próximo 20 de diciembre.

La bodega Mas Vicenç ha presentado su nuevo Vino Novel, un vino de este año que destaca por su singularidad y que en 2024 irá de la mano de la Fundación Noèlia, una organización sin ánimo de lucro que representa y apoya a las personas afectadas por la distrofia muscular por déficit de colágeno VI y a sus familias.

La presentación se ha llevado a cabo en uno de los espacios más icónicos de la ciudad de Tarragona, el Mercado Central. Vicenç Ferré, copropietario y enólogo de Mas Vicenç, ha querido destacar el maridaje de este nuevo Vino Novel (DO Tarragona) con un destino benéfico: ‘este vino tiene un ingrediente que en boca no se nota, que es completamente invisible, pero que al mismo tiempo tiene mucha visibilidad social: la solidaridad. Es un proyecto que nos enorgullece como bodega y que, un año más, encaminamos hacia ayudar a las personas’.

Este nuevo Vino Novel nace en la partida de los Jordans de Cabra del Camp, una de las fincas más emblemáticas de Mas Vicenç, plantada con tempranillo en el año 1990, rodeada de montaña y biodiversidad. Vicenç Ferré explica que ‘es un vino tinto joven, fino, que destaca por su singularidad varietal, con notas especiadas y de frutos del bosque maduros. Tiene una estructura ligera, es goloso’, y añade que ‘lo podemos maridar con tapas, pasta, una carne blanca; es un vino refrescante y que en invierno es ideal para tomar al mediodía fuera, ya que es muy agradable. La temperatura ideal de consumo es entre 6 y 8 grados’.

Xavier Ferré, sumiller y copropietario de Mas Vicenç, apunta que el nuevo Vino Novel ‘es un paquete dual de dos botellas, al precio de 16 euros. De esta cantidad, 1 euro se destinará a la Fundación Noèlia. También pondremos en marcha una fila cero para quienes quieran participar’. Precisamente la presidenta de la Fundación Noèlia, Noèlia Canela, se ha mostrado muy ilusionada y ha asegurado que ‘es un orgullo que Mas Vicenç haya pensado en nosotros y en las personas afectadas por esta enfermedad minoritaria. Actualmente, en el mundo hay registrados 740 casos. En los 9 años de existencia de la Fundación Noèlia hemos alcanzado los 800.000 euros en ayudas, que se han traducido en 3 aproximaciones terapéuticas’.

Montse Adan, presidenta de Mercados de Tarragona y primera teniente de alcalde del Ayuntamiento de Tarragona, ha querido subrayar que ‘desde el Mercado Central estamos encantados de sumarnos a una iniciativa como esta, acogiendo una cata de vinos solidaria. Invitamos a todos a inscribirse y disfrutar de esta oportunidad gastronómica y solidaria en nuestra casa. Gracias a Mas Vicenç por su vocación solidaria’.

Arístides López, doctor del laboratorio de enfermedades neuromusculares del instituto de investigación del Hospital Sant Joan de Déu de Barcelona, también ha dado contexto a la situación de las personas afectadas por la distrofia muscular por déficit de colágeno VI: ‘la investigación es primordial para poder ayudarles. Con la financiación pública no es suficiente, e iniciativas como la de Mas Vicenç nos animan a seguir luchando. Los avances son clave para poder dar esperanza’.

Cata solidaria en el Mercado Central de Tarragona

La presentación del nuevo Vino Novel ha tenido como marco destacado el Mercado de Tarragona, espacio que el próximo 20 de diciembre a las 19:00 h acogerá una cata de vinos solidaria en beneficio de la Fundación Noèlia. Las inscripciones a la cata tendrán un coste de 15 euros y se pueden realizar a través del correo electrónico: masvicens@masvicens.com. Las plazas son limitadas.

El nuevo Vino Novel de Mas Vicenç ya se puede adquirir a través de la página web de Mas Vicenç, www.masvicens.com, y también en las tiendas especializadas de la demarcación de Tarragona. Además, el próximo 14 de diciembre se realizará una visita solidaria a la bodega Mas Vicenç para presentar el proyecto. El objetivo es ‘recaudar más de 1.000 euros entre el producto y las actividades programadas’, indica Vicenç Ferré.

We are glad to introduce you the Amphora of the sea

This past April 19th, at the ‘Teatret del Serrallo’ in Tarragona, we officially presented a project full of excitement and Mediterranean identity. These are 50 amphoras of malvasia from Mas Vicenç and which have been submerged for 400 days in the depths of the Port of Tarragona waters.

‘If we progress as a human species it is because there are people who complicate their lives’, affirmed Rafa López-Monné, director of Climate Action and Territory at the Port of Tarragona.

‘It looks like a Barceló’ said an artist present at the presentation. The corals are impregnated on the argile amphoras and give each piece a different appearance.

And, what about the sea? What does it really add to the wine? At the moment, and although we are in the research phase, we notice that the wine gains in structure due to the constant sea currents and the saline side of the wine is pronounced, without losing the floral aromatic identity of the malvasia variety.

Now, the intention is to continue making dives. At the moment, we have already reserved cages to submerge 150 amphoras more.

This last 26th of March, we have delivered a check valued on 500€ to the SWIM FOR ELA Association (swimforela.com) as a result of the production and sale of the first Mas Vicenç Novel Wine.

This non-profit association promotes the quality of life of people diagnosed with the ALS disease and, thanks to your collaboration, we have been able to do our bit for their help and visibility.

Without a doubt, it’s been an exciting project that allowed us to get closer to wonderful people, with admirable values and attitude.

A NEW WINE WITH A SOLIDARITY PURPOSE

On November 16th, we were very excited to introduce a new project based on solidarity, the Mas Vicenç young red wine ‘novell’. We explain in more detail below:

“THE TEMPRANILLO OF JORDÀ”

The fruit of this wine comes from one of the most emblematic vineyards of the family. It is a parcel with shady character and completely surrounded by forest that was planted in 1990, in the mountain face called ‘els Jordans de Cabra’.

Hand harvested on September 20th and elaborated using the carbonic maceration technique, this novel wine invokes pleasure through its most refreshing and sweet sensation.

A SOLIDARY WINE

This wine has been designed and produced with charitable purposes. For this reason, from each bottle of this young wine, we will allocate €0.50 to a specific entity. The benefits of this first new vintage will go to the Swim for ELA association, a non-profit entity that promotes the quality of life of people diagnosed with ALS.

We introduce the new pét-nats of Mas Vicenç, named Colldecabra, in the company of friends and prescribers, with sensational pairings and lots of wine, especially with bubbles. It was a magnificent afternoon of sun and smooth sea breeze, in the middle of the spring equinox, and it turned out to be another unforgettable evening.

The white Colldecabra, made with macabeo, was presented with a shrimp tartar with sour apple, celery and a hint of lime. The sensations of the white fruit of the variety and the elegant creaminess of the carbonic paired perfectly with the ‘tapa’ which was prepared by Olivetta’s catering from Tarragona. The next stop between vineyards was made under the fig tree of Ca l’Adserà, a special corner with a lot of history of our dear neighbor and friend Enric Adserà. Here we offered the degustation of the sparkling rosé Colldecabra, the Grenache one, which was fused with a crunchy sphere of creamy burrata and dried tomato powder. The day ended up with a visit to the winery and a communion of smiles, more tapas and the entire range of Mas Vicenç wines.

The summer heat waves and the lack of rain have advanced this year’s harvest like we have never experienced before. It has been a generic situation, common conversation between farmers, winemakers and friends in the sector.

At Mas Vicenç we started the harvest with muscat on Thursday 18th August and two months later we were filtering the first young wines! when we usually still have some thick-skinned varieties waiting to be harvested.

The conclusion we draw from the campaign is generally good as the health of the grapes has been extraordinary and the reduction in quantity has not been as noticeable as we feared. We are confident that the wines with the 2022 vintage will have a very good acceptance in the market over time and we are happy.

However, we sense airs of concern towards a climate trend that distorts the cycles of the vineyard and we will have to get used to it and adapt.

The multiple benefits of the snow

We don’t know if we will remember the name of the snow storm (Filomena) in a few years, but the beautiful images it is offering us will surely be etched in our retinas.

We hadn’t seen this huge quantity of snow for a long time!

The vineyards, the cereal, the olive trees and other crops, will also remember this snowfall as it will nourish the plants for many many days. ‘A year of snow is a good year’, remember the elders of the village.

They refer precisely to these benefits that snow gives to the earth; on the one hand, the contribution of moisture over a long period of time, but it is also good for the decomposition of the ground lumps and the low temperatures that accompany them, which will respect the vegetative cycle and avoid multiple unwanted fungi and insects.

You are welcome snow, always!

We celebrate life

This past 3rd of July we organized at Mas Vicenç a solidary event called ‘our vineyards, your garden’. The initiative is shared with other wineries of the DO Tarragona to enjoy again unique moments of wine tourism after the long and hard confinement that we have had to live and also to collaborate with the #joemcorono foundation that fights against the existence of the coronavirus.

The experience at Mas Vicenç was based on a walk through the vineyards and afterwards a dinner in the cellar square with oriental cuisine, the wines of the winery and saxophone melodies.

It was the comeback of the smiles!
