The Central Market will host a charity wine tasting on December 20
The Mas Vicenç winery has presented its new Novel wine. This year’s wine stands out for its uniqueness and, in 2024, partners with Fundació Noèlia, a non-profit organization that represents and supports individuals affected by collagen VI muscular dystrophy and their families.
The presentation took place in one of the most iconic spaces in Tarragona, the Central Market. Vicenç Ferré, co-owner and winemaker of Mas Vicenç, highlighted the pairing of this new Novell wine (DO Tarragona) with a charitable purpose: “This wine has an ingredient that cannot be tasted, which is completely invisible, yet socially very visible: solidarity. This project makes us proud as a winery and, once again, aims to help people.”
This new Novell Wine originates from the Jordans de Cabra estate in Cabra del Camp, one of Mas Vicenç’s most emblematic vineyards, planted with Tempranillo in 1990 and surrounded by mountains and biodiversity. Vicenç Ferré describes it as “a young, fine red wine, notable for its varietal uniqueness, with spicy notes and ripe forest fruit flavors. It has a light structure, is sweet, and pairs well with tapas, pasta, white meats. It’s refreshing and perfect for winter lunchtime enjoyment as it is very appealing. The ideal serving temperature is between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius.”
Xavier Ferré, sommelier and co-owner of Mas Vicenç, noted that the new Novel Wine is “a dual package of two bottles, priced at 16 euros. From this amount, 1 euro will be donated to Fundació Noèlia. We will also launch a zero-row option for those who want to contribute further.” Fundació Noèlia’s president, Noèlia Canela, expressed her excitement, stating, “It is an honor that Mas Vicenç has thought of us and the individuals affected by this rare disease. Currently, there are 740 registered cases worldwide. Over the nine years of Fundació Noèlia’s existence, we have raised 800,000 euros, which have translated into three therapeutic approaches.”
Montse Adan, president of Mercats de Tarragona and first deputy mayor of Tarragona City Council, emphasized, “At the Central Market, we are delighted to join an initiative like this by hosting a charity wine tasting. We invite everyone to register and enjoy this gastronomic and charitable opportunity right here. Thank you to Mas Vicenç for your solidarity.”
Arístides López, a doctor from the neuromuscular diseases laboratory at the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital Research Institute in Barcelona, also provided context on the situation of those affected by collagen VI muscular dystrophy. “Research is vital to help them. Public funding is not enough, and initiatives like Mas Vicenç’s encourage us to keep fighting. Progress is key to offering hope.”
Charity wine tasting at the Central Market

The new Novell Wine from Mas Vicenç is now available for purchase through their website, www.masvicens.com, and at specialty stores in the Tarragona area. Additionally, on December 14, a charity visit to the Mas Vicenç winery will be held to present the project. “The goal is to raise over 1,000 euros between product sales and scheduled activities,” said Vicenç Ferré.
